AIESP 2006
This page is addressed to participants whose papers were short listed for journal publication. Note that there are two
options for journal publication. It is important to understand the difference between the publications, i.e. what the options entail in order to proceed with the selection of the journal. Both options are of equally
very high value to the authors and the scientific community.
1. Conventional publication in prestigious journals: Publication in the "International Journal of Energy Technology and Policy'.
Dr. Ahmed Zobaa at editorial@eng.cu.edu.eg, will conduct his own selection on the short listed papers.
con:
- limited editions of the journal with notable sales price
- limited access to the publication by the scientific community (students, researchers from developing countries;
countries where there is great potential for high achieving members for the scientific community).
- the author(s) must transfer their copyrights to the publisher
pro:
- some publications generate the right number of "points", typically a measure for success, achievements
and accomplishments for the author(s).
- The publication is free of charge.
2. publication in the new AIESP e-journal. AIESP is the first e-journal published by ICSC Interdisciplinary Research (http://www.icsc-naiso.org/html/). The objective is
to make scientific and medical literature a freely available resource for the scientific community. ICSC is following the example of a new non-profit initiative by the Public Library of Science (PLoS), on http://www.paidcontent.org/pc/arch/2003_08_13.shtml.
Registered AIESP 06 authors who have paid the conference fees, will be asked to pay a small additional fee of
US$100.00. The fee is not for the second review process itself, but a sign of a commitment to the publisher.
The e-journal's new home page will be designed in the month of January 2006 by an experienced
publishing company in Edmonton, Canada. The AIESP Chair, Dr. Mohammad Montakhab and his team of editors will conduct the review process of the short listed AIESP 06 papers. The first AIESP journal is expected to be
available in April 2006.
con:
- a point system similar to conventional journals is not in place yet and needs to be discussed with leaders in
academia
- some extra cost for publication occur for the author(s)
pro:
- All members of the scientific community will have free access on the internet to all AIESP e-journal
articles
- for the author(s) unlimited exposure to the scientific community for high qualified (refereed) papers
- resulting in better opportunity for interactions, dialogues, inspiring discussions with colleagues in related
professional circles
- free access to excellent papers will give students, researchers in all academia more possibility to excel and
support the scientific community themselves
- the copyright stays with the authors
All selected AIESP 06 conference papers will be submitted to the 'International Journal of Energy Technology and
Policy', where from a handful contributions will be chosen for publication by Prof. Zobaa's editorial group. At that time, the chosen authors can make the decision if they wish to transfer their copyright and
proceed with the journal publication in the conventional way , or whether they wish to keep their copyright and proceed with the option of the e-journal.
The papers not selected into the hard copy journal will then go into another review process for the e-journal. Both
publication options are of great value to the scientific community, therefore the authors have to determine themselves what their objectives are:
- to satisfy their own needs, as well as those of their university superiors, to have their paper published in a
prestigious journal (limited readers)
or
- to satisfy their own needs, as well as those of their university superiors, colleagues and the entire scientific
community to have access to information in a well written paper that has been refereed two or three times (for the conference, for the hard copy journal and ultimately for the e-journal).
Once the new home page for the e-journal is accessible, authors will notice that there is an ongoing possibility to
submit papers for review. All papers will be refereed by experienced members of an editorial board. The fee for submission has not been determined yet, but is anticipated to be similar to conference registration
fees. One of the objectives for the e-journal is to help students, researchers, scientists with funding problems to attend conferences for publication. Travelling expenses in addition to registration fees have
become a very significant problem to many universities all over the world. Nevertheless, publication of valued papers is crucial for students and researchers to find respective recognition in their scientific
community. Once the home page is designed and ready for use, there will be exact instructions how to submit papers, how many pages, etc.
only registered papers are published in the journals. Please visit: aiesp_registration.html
