Document Image Analysis and Understanding
Organizer George Thoma
National Library of Medicine
Bethesda, MD 20894, USA
We plan to bring together leading experts in the area of Document Image Analysis and Understanding that forms the basis for several new and innovative applications, some of which may be applicable to economic development in the Middle East and Asia as we move on to the next century.
This workshop will involve discussions on:
- automated data extraction from printed journals for databases
- automated recognition of data in engineering drawings for automatic manufacturing processes
- extraction of map information for GIS systems
- face recognition for security databases
